New York City accounts, 1786-1805.

Collection of New York City accounts, 1786-1805. It includes accounts of cash paid by order of the Common Council out of revenue of the Corporation, 1786-1796; lists of outstanding debts due to New York, 1788-1794; and a final balance sheet dated 1805. Daniel Phoenix was treasurer. There are also corrected galley proofs of an undated printing of New York's accounts for 1691-1692, and an offprint of an article printing New YOrk Courty's 1680 accounts.

New Amsterdam was founded by the Dutch in 1625 and quickly grew into a center of commerce between North America and Europe.
